Veteran Cantopop singer Kenny Bee probably thought nothing of taking a picture with Malaysia’s singer/songwriter Namewee when he was performing in Genting Malaysia. When the photo was circulated Chinese social media, the online “patriots” went crazy, questioning Kenny Bee’s “loyalty” to the country as Namewee was known to have made satirical songs and videos, poking fun at China’s sensitivity and animosity towards any form of criticism.
Kenny Bee quickly declared his “patriotism” and denied knowing Namewee personally. He also denied being aware that Namewee’s productions have hurt the feelings of the “patriots”.
